Republic Polytechnic J.U.M.P

The Republic Polytechnic J.U.M.P certainly brings life to each and everyone of us. Plus, it’s a matter of fact that we should be proud, as an RP student, that PM Lee praised us for being innovative.

Innovative hmmm…

So far what keeps me and the rest of the cohort going for understanding tests are moderations. Thumbs up for innovation! Despite having such an all time low marks of 4.5/30, you can still get a B+ as your grade. False motivation or just perhaps the students have such low critical thinking skills? It’s not like your typical questions of 1+1=2 but more of why is there such equation and how do you apply it. So it’ll be like 1?1=2? why? BLAH!

Back to topic,

To kick start the event, there were clusters of students in their various coloured RP J.U.M.P shirts along the pavements near TRCC just to cheer out loud when the Prime Minister arrives. I wonder what will the PM thinks when he drives into the foyer.

PM: Oh my god! are they gonna mob me? I haven’t give my speech yet. Save me.

Hopefully, he didn’t feel that way.

Just before my performance with the saxophone section, we walked around the lawn to kill time. There were rugby players rehearsing their so called cheer and surrounding them were the RP war cry members. Hmmmm correct me if I’m wrong, it sounds like they’re speaking New Zealand language.

Prior, we went to lawn to view the live band and I was kinda jumping on my feet on the chorus of the song. I look like a total fool because I was doing it alone. Loner!

Just as the the performance in the chilling room started with the strings ensemble playing English Folk Song suite, the room hasn’t had occupants except the organisers, the DJ’s and the saxophone section. The least we could do is support them. During which, we slacked and cam whored. Out of the lot, the picture below was the best.

Saxophone section rocks la! Come on!

Due to the atmosphere, everyone felt woeful. Darul even went to the extent of saying that the performance was for losers. Wah! how depressing can that be? Hmmm.. nonetheless we kept the spirits high. Just as we’re about to step on the stage, the room suddenly had occupants coming in group by group. Such coincidence! The performance went swell. (Will upload the video once I got hands on it)

Preceding to that, we went back to the lawn to catch the rest of the evenings event and also, to gobble up the buffet provided. Having my stomach filled, I’m not sure about the PM. Looks like he’s being hogged by RP students and cameras all over. Even his bodyguard ask me to back off because I was in the boundary where students aren’t allow to stand. Like hello, take pictures only can? I wonder if he did get some food in his tummy.

Met Hao Ren, my previous classmate at the lawn. He and the I-don’t-know-them formed like 2 lines with a distant apart. Looks like they’re gonna cheer the PM off when he leaves. How innovative!

That said, see the colour of the shirt I’m wearing? It’s red not pink. By the way, if non-RP people don’t know, different colours represents the different school deparments in RP.

SAS – pink
SEG – blue
and etc…

I’m not sure red stands for what. Why of all the colours, SAS chose the colour pink? for goodness sake, choose other colours can? Never mind that, I have multiple colours of the shirts because some random people and I managed to psycho the person in-charge of distributing the shirts to lend us a hand in attaining the different coloured shirts.

To end the day, SJ, Songlin, CPC, Sandy, Hirda and I went back to the chilling room to let the air-con embrace us and to view the other performance. Replug IG did a great performance. This is the funny and amusing bit. During the intermission, the DJ’s played some song and I asked Sandy what song is it and she replied that she doesn’t know. I dared her to ask the person next to her and guess what? SHE DID! and that guy wasn’t pissed at all, he was like damn friendly la. The guy said “maybe you could ask those DJ’s?”. I was like huh? you talking to me? LOL! Sandy was like looking at me with the cheena sian look. She told me that if I don’t go I’m (fillintheblanks) – I forgot what she told me. Ooops! whatever it is, I went to ask the poor fella. The moment I ask them what song is being aired, they take aback. “ermmmm, sorry ah, I also don’t know but I got the CD’s,”
